Racers In 4th Place - In The Title Hunt At Ocala

The Murray State Racers played the second round of the Ocala Spring Invitational hosted by Morehead State in Dunnellon, Fla.

Through 36 holes of the 54-hole event, the Racers have carded rounds of 301-298=599 and have a spot in fourth place in the field of 18 teams. MSU's 298 Tuesday moved the team up one spot from yesterday at Juliette Falls Golf Course.

Sophie Hillier leads the Racers with a spot in eighth place after rounds of 72-75=147. Sydney Trimble made a big move in day two up to 17th place from 55th with scores of 79-71=150. Her 1-under-par 71 is a career-low round at MSU for the sophomore. Jacklyn Van Meter was in 25th place with rounds of 75-76=151, while Moa Folke was in 36th place with scores of 75-78=153. Abbi Stamper had a spot in 50th place with scores of 79-76=155.

Minta Yin and Gina Nuzzo are playing the event as individuals for the Racers. Yin was in 17th place with rounds of 74-76=150 and Nuzzo was in 88th place with scores of 85-82=167.

The Racers start the final round Tuesday chasing leader Daytona at 596 and Elon and South Dakota State at 597.

After the Racers, host Morehead State was fifth place tied with Western Kentucky at 601. The rest of the top-10 included: Stetson (603), South Alabama (604), Stephen F. Austin and North Florida (606).

Hillier is six shots off the pace being set by Daytona's Ji Sung Kang who had scores of 69-72=141.

The final round will be played Wednesday with a shot gun start at 7:15 a.m. Central Time.

The course at Juliette Falls is playing to a par of 72 and 6,113 yards.
