Racers Look For Surge At Home Event

The Murray State Racers got underway Friday as 11 women's collegiate teams teed it up at the home of Racer Golf, Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
Cool and breezy weather greeted the field after overnight rain and 36 holes was completed.
With the final round to come Saturday morning, Cincinnati (606) was the leader, six shots in front of Morehead (612). The Racers carded rounds of 312-308=620.
Racer freshman Moa Folke continued her recent good play with a spot in fourth place in the field of 72 competitors with scores of 78-72=150. MSU's Jacklyn Van Meter (79-79=158) and Sophie Hillier (80-78=158) shared 25th place, while Abbie Stamper was in 34th place after rounds of 75-85=160. Sydney Trimble carded scores of 82-79=161 and was in 37th place.
MSU has two in the event as individuals including Minta Yin who led the 17 solo players in the field. She had a spot in ninth place with scores of 81-72=153. Gina Nuzzo was in 21st place and was the fourth place individual with rounds of 80-77=157.
After the Bearcats, Eagles and Racers, the rest of the top-5 included Xavier (621) and Tennessee Tech (630). Butler was in sixth place at 631, followed by Marshall and Belmont at 632. The rest of the field included: Austin Peay (652), SIUE (659) and Tennessee State (690).
The Miller Memorial course is playing to a par of 72 this weekend and 6,017 yards.
The final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
