Folke & Van Meter Named All-OVC Golf

A pair of Murray State Racers landed on the All-Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Team Monday evening in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.

Freshman Moa Folke was named to the All-OVC Team and All-OVC Newcomer Team, while sophomore Jacklyn Van Meter was also named All-OVC.

Folke, From Tranas, Sweden, was seventh in the OVC with a scoring average of 76.5. She played a splendid event at Ole Miss (April 5) with rounds of 72-72-73=218 on a tough course and in the best field of the season. She also had a top-5 finish at the APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 14).

Van Meter, out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was eighth in the OVC with an average of 76.7. She had a top-5 finish at the Lady Eagle Invitational (March 9).

The annual awards dinner was held at the site of the OVC Championship, Hampton Cove Golf Club. The players enjoyed an evening of fellowship after the first round of the postseason tournament.

For the third year in a row the All-OVC team was comprised of one 10-person squad instead of two five-member teams as done in past seasons. The All-OVC team included one senior, three juniors, four sophomores and two freshmen.
