Murray State soccer head coach Jeremy Groves announced Tuesday the 2015 fall schedule. This year's lineup will include eight home matches and 11 away contests.
"I think we have a very good yet tough schedule for 2015," said Groves, "being on the road for the first four games of the season will provide us with challenges early on against quality opponents. I think we have a great home non-conference schedule where we have some really good teams coming to play us on Cutchin Field."
Groves said, "The OVC is going to be very challenging this year we have very challenging road games. One of the best things is we have three of the top four teams from last year coming to play us. We want to keep our home momentum going from what we did last year."
The 2015 season will begin unofficially on Aug. 14 when MSU plays their lone exhibition game. The opponent and location of the match are still being determined. On Aug. 23 the season will officially begin when the Racers travel to Starkville, Mississippi to face Mississippi State.
MSU will begin their four-match road trip to start off their 2015 campaign facing two schools from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and two from the Sun Belt Conference. The final road match in the four-match trip will be facing Tennessee, who was ranked #57 at the end of the 2014 season after going 10-10-2.
Murray State will take on Louisiana Tech and then Middle Tennessee State at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky as the first home matches of the season. The match against La Tech is set for Fri. Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. The Racers will go on another road trip, this time for three contests, with the final match beginning their Ohio Valley Conference season against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 24.
MSU will return home for its final non-conference match against Saint Louis on Sept. 27. The Racers will open OVC play at Cutchin Field on Oct. 2 when they face UT Martin.
Other home OVC contests include Southeast Missouri on Oct. 4, SIU Edwardsville on Oct. 23, and Eastern Illinois on Oct. 25. MSU will honor its seniors on Oct. 30 during its final home match of the season against Austin Peay.Â
