The Murray State softball team saw its record-breaking season come to an end Saturday night with a 2-1 loss to SIUE in the 2015 OVC Softball Championship at Cougar Field in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Racers won a school record 38 games overall, as well as a new program best of 20 conference wins.

Murray State (38-19) had a great opportunity to lead off the second when Maggie Glass started the frame with a double and was followed on the base paths by Jocelynn Rodgers via a walk. However, the Cougars (43-15) were able to retire the next three batters and strand both runners.

In the third, the situation repeated itself, this time with Becker getting the double and Mo Ramsey getting the walk. This time though, after a wild pitch by SIUE pitcher Hayley Chambers advanced both runners, Jessica Twaddle scored Becker from third with a sacrifice fly, to give MSU the 1-0 lead.

The score remained tied until the sixth inning when Alex Mc David singled up the middle to score Rebecca Gray from second and tie the game at one. Later in the inning, SIUE took a 2-1 lead, after loading the bases on a MSU error, on a sacrifice fly from pinch hitter Amy Hunt. The score would remain at 2-1 for the rest of the game to give the Cougars the win.

Alexa Becker was 2-for-4 in the contest with a run to lead Murray State on the night. CheyAnne Gaskey ended her final season at 20-10 after allowing one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk over 6.1 innings in the circle.

Following the tournament, Glass and Ramsey were named to the All-Tournament team. Ramsey was 6-for-10 in the tournament with three walks, two runs and a RBI, while Glass was 6-for-11 with three runs, a double, a triple, three home runs, a walk and nine RBIS.
