Smith Named Capital One Academic All-District

Murray State golf student-athlete Jordan Smith has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).
Smith, a senior from Murray, Ky., carried a 4.0 grade point average and graduated this spring from Murray State with a degree in telecommunications & systems.
In April he was named All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team playing for the Murray State men's golf squad that finished second at the OVC Championship. In his senior season that included events last fall, Smith ranked seventh in the OVC with a 72.8 scoring average. He played in 12 events in the fall and spring and placed in the top-10 nine times, including a top-10 showing at the OVC Championship.
Smith was joined on the CoSIDA District-2 list  by student-athletes from Penn State, Navy, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Drexel and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Nationally, Smith was one of 15 men's golfers from NCAA Division I that earned the CoSIDA award.
