Becker, Twaddle Named Academic All-Americans

Senior Alexa Becker and sophomore Jessica Twaddle of the Murray State softball team were both awarded  the prestigious honor of being named as a 2015 Capital One Academic All-American Friday, as  selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Becker was named to the first team, while Twaddle received third team honors.
Twaddle now becomes the 16th Racer in school history to earn the award, while Becker becomes just the third to win the award more than once. In total, MSU student-athletes have now been named Academic All-Americans on 18 occasions dating back to the first award winner Eddie McFarland, in 1976.
Becker is also now the first softball Racer to earn first team honors, while Twaddle is the program's second Academic All-American overall. At least one Racer, department-wide, has now earned the title of Academic All-American in each of the past seven years; dating back to 2009
Becker is a senior business administration major who has a 3.97 cumulative GPA. The All-OVC honoree hit .357 this season and led the team with 27 walks and 10 stolen bases. She is currently the program's all-time leader in runs, RBIs, doubles, triples and home runs.
Twaddle currently sports a 3.93 cumulative GPA and is majoring in economics. The 2015 OVC Player of the Year led the league in batting average with a MSU single-season program best of .426. She also had a team high of 54 RBIs and an incredible on-base percentage of .483.
