123 Racers Honored by OVC For Academic Excellence

A total of 122 Murray State student-athletes were honored for academic achievement in the 2014-15 academic year, as they were named to the OVC's Commissioner's Honor Roll, announced Friday by the league office. The 122 honored, is up from 85 in the 2013-14 year.
To be listed, recipients must have achieved at least a 3.25 GPA and have been eligible and on a team throughout the competitive season in their NCAA-sponsored sport(s).
For the fifth-straight year a record number of student-athletes throughout the OVC were recognized, as a total of 1,271 were recognized for performance in the classroom, topping the record mark of 1,255 from the previous year.
Murray State led the conference in honorees in three separate sports this year as softball (15), track and field (25) and women's cross country (12) led the way in their respective sports across the OVC.
The OVC will announce the recipients of the Academic Medal of Honor, the Academic Achievement Award and the Team Academic Awards next week.
