Lawrence and Maerz Selected to All-Star Teams

Murray State's Tyler Lawrence and Cody Maerz have been selected to play in their respective summer league All-Star games, announced this past weekend.
Lawrence, who is playing for the Brazos Valley Bombers, has been named the starting designated hitter for the North in the Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game. Maerz has been named a reserve pitcher for the East squad in the Prospect League All-Star Game.
Lawrence, who was a Second Team All-OVC selection this past season for the Racers, is hitting .373 and has six RBIs in 15 games this summer for the Bombers. Lawrence has drawn 13 walks and hit six doubles so far this summer and has also scored 14 runs.
Maerz has appeared in five contests this summer for the Jammers. In 33.2 innings of work, Maerz has compiled a 2-1 record and is sixth in the league with a 1.34 ERA and has struck-out 17 batters.
The Texas League All-Star Game is Tuesday at Riverside Stadium in Victoria, Texas, while the Prospect League game will be played Wednesday in Richmond, Ind.
