Lawrence Named MVP, Wins Home Run Derby

Murray State catcher Tyler Lawrence had a big Tuesday night as he won the Texas Collegiate League's All-Star Game home run derby and later that evening, was named the All-Star Game MVP.
Lawrence went 3-for-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly RBI in the North's 4-1 victory over the South. Lawrence was representing the Brazos Valley Bombers.
Lawrence began the all-star festivities with a home run derby championship prior to the game. Lawrence bested five other competitors, one from each team, to take home the title. Lawrence hit five home runs in the first round and hit a pair of blasts in the final round to win.
Lawrence, who was a 2015 Second Team All-OVC selection, is hitting .373 with six RBIs so far this season for the Bombers.
