The Murray State Racers fired a first round 303 and Sydney Trimble led all players after the first round of the MSU Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers look for their fourth win in the seven times their home event has been played and their first since 2013 in Tuesday's final round.
Â
Murray State (303) had a three-shot lead over Southern Illinois (306). SIUE was in third place with a 313, with Belmont in fourth place at 314 and Tennessee Tech in fifth place with a 316.

Sydney Trimble led the way for the Racers with a 1-over-par 73 in the field of 74 players. MSU's Abbi Stamper was in fourth place after a 76. Sophie Hillier and Anna Moore shared seventh place each with a score of 77 and Moa Folke carded a 78 and had a spot in 15th place.

Trimble's 73 was one shot ahead of SIU's Brooke Cusamano and Morgan Gardner of Austin Peay each at 74.

The Racers have four playing the event as individuals led by Jacklyn Van Meter with a spot in seventh place after a 77. Nadine Innes carded a 78 and was in 16th place, while Jane Watts was in 26th place with and 80. Leah Rose Judd was in 68th place after a 91.

The rest of the team field included Austin Peay in sixth place with a 318 and Cumberlands at 322 in seventh place. Lipscomb (328), Eastern Illinois (333), IPFW (335), Indiana State (339) and Tennessee State (365) rounded out the field of 12 squads.

A year ago, the Racers and Salukis met in a playoff to decide the champion with the Salukis coming out on top.

Tuesday's final round starts with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

Miller Memorial is playing to a par of 72 and a distance of 6,017 yards.
