Gosser leads Racers at SIUE Event

The Murray State men's golf team played 36 holes Monday at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Illinois, at Gateway National Golf Club.
Jared Gosser led the Racer effort with a spot in 21st place after scores of 72-71=143, while Preston French and Gabe Wheeler shared a spot in 30th place in the field of 88 competitors. French carded scores of 77-68=145, while Wheeler had scores of 73-72=145. Matthew Zakutney had rounds of 73-74=147 and was in 42nd place, while Brock Simmons had a spot in 58th place with scores of 75-74=149.
Duncan McCormick and Daniel Taylor are in the event as individuals for the Racers. Taylor was third among the 11 individuals and 54th overall with scores of 74-74=148. McCormick had scores of 76-73=149 and was in sixth place and 58th overall.
The Racers were in 11th place after rounds of 293-285=578.
Host SIUE had the lead with a team score of 553. Belmont (562), Missouri State (564), South Dakota (565) and Bradley and Austin Peay (567) made up the top-6. Just ahead of the Racers was UT Martin (570), Tennessee Tech and Western Illinois (570) and Oakland (574). Murray State was ahead of Omaha (593), Chicago State (594), Mott (601) and Eastern Illinois (621).
Tuesday's final round is a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
