Racers Finish Commodore Invite Strong

Murray State Track and Field finished an exciting weekend at the Commodore Invite in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday.
Tamdra Lawrence led the Racers in the 60 meters as she finished in seventh with a time of 7.63. Taylor McCammon ran a season best 7.93. Deja Rodgers finished with a time of 7.98. Jabreuna Brimlett ran 8.04 in the 60 meters.
Jocelyn Payne (1:00), Anna Curlin (1:00) and competed in the 400 meters. Taylor Adcock set a season best time in the event by finishing 1:01.
Tia Weston and Kimmy Siebert competed in the 800 meters. Weston finished with a time of 2:21. Siebert finished with a season best time of 2:43.
Brittany Bohn led the Racers in the mile run as she finished tenth with a time of 5:03. Ali Hester (5:09) and Emily Evans (5:52) ran season best times in the event. Ida Mutai set a personal record as she ran 5:30.
Freshman Aubrey Main competed in the high jump. She cleared 1.56m (5'1.25").
Freshman Christina Meinhardt competed in the shot put. Meinhardt finished twelfth with a throw of 11.00m (36' 1.25").Darcy Sullivan also competed in the shot put, throwing 8.74m (28' 8.25").
The Racers had two teams compete in the 4x400 meter relay. The team made up of Payne, Lawrence, Brimlett, and Curlin finished with a time of 4:01. The team comprised of Victoria Yocum, Adcock, Weston, and Rodgers finished with a time of 4:08.
Overall, head coach Jenny Swieton thought it was a good weekend for her team, specifically for the freshmen. "I am very impressed with how our freshmen are handling the high level of competition," said Swieton. "We had some promising results that should act as a springboard into the meat of the season."
The Racers will be back in action Friday at the John Craft Invite in Charleston, Illinois.
