Racers Show Improvement at the Pitt State Invite

The Murray State track and Field team competed in the Pitt State Invite in Pittsburg, Kansas on Friday. The Racers set ten personal records at the meet.
Ali Hester took home a win for the Racers as she placed first in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:14. Meagan Smith set a new personal record in the 3000 meters as she finished with a time of 10:30. Leah Krause ran a season best in the 5000 meters as she finished with a time of 18:36.
Freshman Tamdra Lawrence set a new personal record in the 60 meters as she finished fourth with a time of 7.57. The time ranks second all-time at Murray State. Lawrence also finished seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 24.71.
Jocelyn Payne also set a personal record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.83. Payne set another personal record in the 400 meters with a time of 58.80.
Taylor McCammon set a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71 in the preliminaries. The time ranks fourth all-time for the Racers. McCammon finished in ninth in the preliminaries, just missing the cut for the finals. Jabreuna Brimlett also set a personal record in the preliminaries for the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.61. She then ran 8.63 to finish sixth in the event. Brimlett's new personal record ranks third all-time at Murray State. Brimlett finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.52m (18' 1.5").
Tia Weston ran a personal best in the 800 meters as she finished with a time of 2:17. Emani Griffin also set a new record in the 800 meters as she finished with a time of 2:19.
Freshman Christina Meinhardt set a new personal record in the shot put as she threw 12.37m (40' 7"). Emily Heil set a personal record in the pole vault with a vault of 3.06m (10'.5"), Chleo LeGrand set a season best in the pole vault as she finished tenth with a vault of 3.36m (11'.25").
The distance meter relay, which includes Brittany Bohn, Aubrey Main, Emma Gilmore, and Ali Hester, finished in second with a time of 12:16.
The Racers will be split for their next meet as they head to Carbondale, Illinois for the Carbondale Invite and South Bend, Indiana for the Mayo Invitational on Friday.Â
