Murray State's Ellie Lorenz was named the ADIDAS OVC Defensive Player of the Week and Hannah Stultz was named the Co-Setter of the Week for their performances over the weekend in the Racers' two sweeps over Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State.
This is the second player of the week honor this season for both student-athletes. Lorenz was a monster defensively in the back row for the Racers as she averaged an incredible 6.83 digs per set in the two victories. In the win against TTU, Lorenz collected a match-high 23 digs and then followed that up with an 18-dig performance in the win over JSU. Lorenz currently leads the OVC in digs per set with 5.08 and is even better in conference play, averaging 5.85 per.
Stultz was great in orchestrating the offense over the weekend for the Racers as MSU hit .304 as a team in the two sweeps. Stultz averaged an OVC-leading 14 assists per set over the weekend, recording 39 against TTU and 45 against the Gamecocks. Stultz also had eight service aces in the two matches, including a career-high six in the win over TTU. This season, Stultz is leading the league in conference-only games with 11.73 assists per set.
Lorenz, Stultz and the rest of the Racers begin a five-match road swing this weekend when they travel to Nashville to face Tennessee State and Belmont on Friday and Saturday.
