The Murray State softball team continued its winning ways in fall play this past weekend by shutting out Asbury twice, 8-0 and 9-0, at Racer Field in Murray.
Freshman Ellison Barrett got the win for Murray State in the opener by allowing no hits over the final four innings of the game. Sophomore Amber Van Duyse began the game in the circle for MSU and allowed only one hit over three innings.

Senior Mallory Young, sophomore Brenna Finck and freshman Kaylee Ranburger led the Racers by each coming up with two hits in game one. Meanwhile, freshman Jenny Homann made her one at-bat in the game count as she blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.

In the second game, Haven Campbell surrendered just two hits over four innings while striking out five to pick up the win. Senior Mason Robinson entered the game in the fifth inning in relief of Campbell and allowed no hits over the final three innings, while also striking out five.

Ranburger and Sophomore Madison Culver led the way offensively for MSU in game two with each tallying three hits. Seniors Jocelynn Rodgers and Jessica Twaddle and freshman Kristen Bialek followed Ranburger and Culver by notching two hits each.

Murray State will put its fall softball season to bed Friday when its hosts Dyersburg Community College at Racer Field. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
