Racers Home To Face TTU & EKU

The Murray State Racers are back at home this week for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference games at Cutchin Field when they host Tennessee Tech Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Eastern Kentucky Sunday at 2 p.,. Both games will be streamed live and free on OVCDigitalNetwork.com with Blake Bernier and Ross Meloan calling the action.
The Racers came away from a road trip last weekend with a 2-0-1 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference after a Friday 2-2 tie at Southeast Missouri and a 2-1 win at UT Martin on Sunday. In the SEMO game, it was a rebound goal by Taylor Richerson in the final minute that helped get the match to overtime and a save of a penalty kick save by Alex Steigerwald made sure the Racers got at least a draw out of the game instead of a loss. On Sunday at UTM, the Racers broke from the gate with a 2-0 lead on Goals from Harriet Withers in the 20th minute and  Nyomi Devine goal in the 39th minute. Racers goalkeeper Alex Steigerwald made 18 saves in the two matches.
The Racers carry an impressive 15-game unbeaten streak in OVC regular season games into this week. Their last loss was Oct. 26, 2014 at home to Belmont 2-0.Â

Harriet Withers enters the week having scored in three straight games and she has scored in 5-of-9 games this season. Withers has 22 career goals and has tied Krista Muilkens (2005-08) for fifth place on the Murray State all-time list. Jackie Thomas (2000-03) is fourth with 23. Withers has 55 career points (two points for each goal, one point for each assist) and has tied Sophie Hargreaves (2008-11) for fourth on the MSU all-time list.
The Racers' home opponents this week are Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky. The Racers lead the series with TTU 10-7-1. Murray State is 7-3-2 all-time against EKU. MSU has won their last two meetings with each.
