The Murray State women's soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to 16 with a 3-0 victory over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Sunday at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky.

The win marked back-to-back home shutouts this week and it pushed the Racers (5-4-2, 4-0-1 OVC) into sole possession of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Racers have 13 points, ahead of second place SIUE (12 points) and third place Austin Peay (11 points). Standings are based on a format of a win is worth three points and a tie gives each team one point.

The match was scoreless until Harriet Withers scored in the 28^th minute off of a free kick 20 yards in front of the EKU goal. This free kick came after Withers' was interfered with by an EKU defending. Withers has seven goals this season and has scored in four of the last five games for MSU.

The game stayed 1-0 through halftime and into the 62^nd minute when the Racers found the net again on the second goal of the season by Cori Cain. Withers assisted with a pass from the left back line out to Cain in front.

Ali Critcher scored her second goal of the season in the 79^th minute with a header from a crossing pass from Caroline Ashton. Critcher scored MSU's only goal Wednesday in a 1-0 win over Tennessee Tech.

The Racers' defense produced a second straight shutout this week by keeping the heat off of goalkeeper Alex Steigerwald who saved all four shots she faced.

It's another tough road test for the Racers this week when they travel to Charleston to face Eastern Illinois at 3p Friday. MSU plays in Edwardsville Sunday at 1p against SIUE.
