Murray State pushed its winning streak to 13 straight matches on Thursday night as the Racers opened OVC Tournament play with a 3-0 sweep of No. 8 seed Jacksonville State. Scottie Ingram led the way offensively with a match-high 14 kills while Hannah Stultz recorded 39 assists, 10 digs and a pair of service aces on the night. Ellie Lorenz led the team with 21 digs in the victory.
The Racers will meet the Colonels less than two weeks removed from the two's previous meeting in Murray on Nov. 5, a match which MSU won in four hard-fought sets. Ingram was dynamite in the victory as she tallied 26 kills and hit .321 while also adding 16 digs. Stultz led the way with 56 assists and Dacia Brown notched a career-best three service aces. Set scores of that match went 25-22, 28-26, 23-25 and 25-18.
Scouting Eastern Kentucky
The Colonels are led by First Team All-OVC selection Nikki Drost's 361 kills on the season while Celina Sanks is second on the team with 342. OVC Freshman of the Year Rachel Woody leads EKU with 793 assists (6.90 per set) on the year and also has 211 kills. In the back row defensively, Mallory Maxwell leads the Colonels averaging 4.68 digs per set. As a team, EKU is hitting .185 overall, has 129 service aces and 221.5 total blocks.
Eyes on the Top
After Thursday night's performance, Ingram now sits just 29 kills shy of passing Sarah Dearworth for first place on top of the all-time career kills list at MSU. For her career, Ingram has 1,533 kills and is averaging 3.62 per set.
