Racer Golf Signs Sarah McDowell

Murray State women's golf coach Velvet Milkman announced the signing of Sarah McDowell of Murray High School.

McDowell will join the Racers as a freshman in the fall of 2017.

"I am very excited to have Sarah join the Racer golf family," Milkman said. "She is a very good athlete with a tremendous amount of upside potential. She is very strong and has good distance which is important at the collegiate level. She's a competitor that knows how to win, which is evident by her success in both golf and track and field. Additionally, Sarah is an exceptional young lady of high character and will be an asset to our team."

McDowell was an outstanding player at Murray High School where she finished her prep career being named the Kentucky High School Athletics Region-1 Player of the Year. She carded rounds of 71-77=148 and placed second at the Kentucky State Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club. At season's end, McDowell was an All-State Second Team selection. As a junior in 2015, she placed fifth at the state tournament with scores of 71-75=146.

McDowell also participated in track and field and was a Kentucky State Class A discuss champion in 2015 and 2016.
