Simmons and Racers Taking On Palm Valley Course

The second round of the spring season proved more difficult for the Murray State men's golf team at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona at Palm Valley Golf Club.

After carding a 286 (2-under-par) in the opening round, they came back in round two with a 293, but stayed in ninth place in the field of 16 teams. The Racers (286-293=579) were five shots behind eighth place Missouri State (574) and eight shots from UT Martin (571). MSU led Elon (580) by one shot.

Brock Simmons surged to the front of Murray State players with a second round 2-under-par 70. After a first round 75, Simmons is in 34^th place with a total score of 145. Racer teammate Duncan McCormick had a share of 34^th place with scores of 71-74=145, while Preston French was in 42^nd place at 72-74=146. Jared Gosser had scores of 73-75=148 and had a spot in 56^th place. Gabe Wheeler was in 60^th place with scores of 70-79=149.

Arkansas State (560) went from eight shots off the lead into first place, ahead of James Madison (562) and Indiana (564). Seton Hall (566), Connecticut (567) and William & Mary (570) made up the top-6.

Tanner Napier of ASU was the individual leader at 134.

The Palm Valley course is playing to a par-72 and 7,015 yards.

Murray State plays the final round with Elon, Utah Valley and DePaul.
