Preston French Named OVC Golfer Of The Week

Murray State senior Preston French was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week as announced Wednesday by the league office in Brentwood, Tennessee.
French, out of Lexington, Kentucky, scored his second collegiate win at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn. He started the final round six shots off the lead and won with a final round 71 that followed a 67 and 75. His 54-hole total was 3-under-par 213.
The win was French's first since his freshman year in 2013 when he won the MSU Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course, the home of MSU Golf.
French helped the Racers to a runner-up showing at the Nichols event as MSU topped five OVC teams.
The honor for French is the third for the Racer men's team this season following Brock Simmons who won it twice (Sept. 23 and Oct. 7). It's the fourth overall for the entire MSU Golf program, Moa Folke was the women's honoree on Sept. 30.
The MSU men play Friday and Saturday at the Spring Break Invitational in Lake Worth, Florida. The MSU women get on the course next at the Ole Miss Rebel Invitational (April 1-3).
The OVC women's golfer of the week is Valentina Giraldo of Jacksonville State.
