The postseason has arrived for the Murray State women's golf team when they tackle the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at Hampton Cove Golf Club in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.

The Racers and head coach Velvet Milkman are hopeful of earning the program's 10th title and their first since 2014.

At the end of three days of play (April 18-20) over 54 holes, the OVC champion will be crowned and represent the conference at the NCAA Championship.

Murray State has a lineup that features one of the top players in the OVC, a pair that have extensive experience in the OVC Championship and another pair playing the event for the first time.

Moa Folk, So., Tranas, Sweden: One of the candidates for OVC Player of the Year, Folke is third in the league with a 75.5 scoring average. She carded a career-low 4-under-par 68 at Ole Miss three weeks ago and took her first win as a Racer last week at the Jan Weaver Invitational. She has been named OVC Golfer of the Week three times this season. As a freshman in 2015, Folke placed 31^st in the OVC Championship.

Sydney Trimble, Jr., Paducah, Ky.: Has played in one OVC Championship as a freshman when she helped the Racers to the OVC title in 2014. She placed fifth and earned a spot on the OVC All-Tournament Team. After not playing the event in 2015, Trimble is back as a junior and 21^st in the OVC with a 78.7 scoring average.

Abbi Stamper, Sr., Frankfort, Ky.: As MSU's most experienced player at the OVC Championship, she has three appearances and nine rounds of experience in the event. She placed 11^th in the Racers' 2014 title and was ninth as a junior in 2015. This season, Stamper is 30^th in the OVC with a scoring average of 79.6.

Anna Moore, So., Hopkinsville, Ky.: She is in the OVC Championship for the first time after breaking into the starting lineup this season. With a scoring average of 80.6, Moore had a career-low 73 three weeks ago at Ole Miss.

Nadine Innes, Fr., Union, Ky.: A true freshman, who is little more than a year removed from playing high school golf where she was a region champion at Rhyl. In limited appearances, Innes has a scoring average of 80.6 and has the opportunity to give the Racers something that exceeds her experience level.

About Hampton Cove
The OVC first played at Hampton Cove in 2015, which is one of the stops along Alabama's famed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Hampton Cove, the northern gateway to the Trail, is a 54-hole facility with terrain that drastically changes from one side of the property to the other. Renovated in 2008, The Highlands course has been restored to its original Scottish Links design. The finishing holes are scenic and challenging and one of the most recognizable landmarks on the Trail is the old mule barn beside the fifth hole.

For the OVC Championship, Hampton Cove will play to a par-72 (36-36) and to a length of 6,050 yards.

Racer OVC Championship History
The Racers' winning tradition in OVC Golf under Head Coach Velvet Milkman is remarkable. She is the only coach MSU has ever had since the program was launched in 1993. MSU has posted nine OVC Championship victories in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, and 2014. Milkman has nine matching OVC Coach of the Year honors.

The Racers have six medalist winners at the OVC Championship including Jenny Daag (1998 & 1999), Cuyler Hedley (2003), Lee Anne Pace (2004), Nikki Orazine (2005), and Delaney Howson (2014).

In the 22 previous OVC Championships, the Racers have had an individual finish in fifth place or better every time. MSU has 16 individual finishes of third place or better.

Tournament Notes
The Racers will play their practice round on Sunday at 12:50 p.m.

All players will begin from the first tee in all three days of the competition. The first group off each day will be at 8 a.m.

The Racers are paired with Belmont and Morehead State in round one. Innes hits MSU's first shot of the event when she tees off at 9:40 a.m., with Moore (9:50 a.m.), Trimble (10 a.m.), Stamper (10:10 a.m.) and Folke (10:15 a.m.) to follow.

After Monday's first round, the OVC teams get together at the Hampton Cove Clubhouse for the annual awards banquet when All-OVC honors will be announced.

The OVC men's event will be played (April 25-27) in Muscle Shoals, Ala., at The Shoals Golf Club, another stop on the RTJ Golf trail.
