A first round 304 meant a spot in second place for the Murray State women's golf at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at Hampton Cove Golf Club in Owens Crossing, Alabama.

A nine time champion, the Racers carded a 304 and held down second place as the field of 10 teams chases Eastern Kentucky who turned in a 293. Jacksonville State (307), Austin Peay (308) and Morehead State (309) rounded out the top-5.

Murray State's Moa Folke fired a 1-under-par 71, had a share of second place, and was five shots off the lead of Eastern Kentucky's Anna Glexiner who shot a 68.

Folke's front nine was highlighted by a two at the par-4 fifth hole. Playing 273 yards, Folke drove the green and had a short eagle putt as a reward. She went to 4-under at the 13th hole, but suffered three late bogeys coming in on the No. 15, 17 and 18.

Other Racer scores and places included Abbi Stamper in fifth place with a 74 and Anna Moore in 20th place with a 79. Nadine Innes shot an 80 and was in 24th place, while Sydney Trimble was in 32nd place with an 82.

Tennessee Tech and Belmont shared sixth place at 311 while the rest of the field was made up by SIUE (329), Eastern Illinois (337) and Tennessee State (353).

Putting themselves into a great position heading into round two, the Racers will be matched with EKU and Jacksonville State in round two with their first tee time coming at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The 4-under par 68 by EKU's Glexiner tied the OVC Championship scoring mark that was set by Murray State's Delaney Howson in 2014. EKU's Sophie Levin also tied it in 2015.

Tuesday tee times for the Racers: Sydney Trimble - 10:30 a.m., Nadine Innes - 10:40 a.m., Anna Moore – 10:50 a.m., Abbi Stamper – 11 a.m., Moa Folke – 11:10 a.m.
