For a pair of Murray State women's golfers, the summer has been a successful one for Moa Folke
of Tranas, Sweden and Raeysha Surendran of Selangor, Malaysia.
Playing at the Wermdo Golf & Country Club, just south of Stockholm, Folke fired scores of 72-75-75=222 for a one-shot win in the field of 24 competitors. The event was part of the Skandia Tour. With the victory, Folke gets an exemption into the next Skandia Tour event which is the Swedish junior championship (July 1-3).
When Folke returns to Murray State in the fall, the junior will be trying to build on the momentum of winning the Ohio Valley Conference championship last April at the end of her sophomore season.
Raeysha Surendran will be newcomer at Murray State when she arrives in the fall for her freshman year.
She took home the title at the Mercedes Benz Junior Asian Masters which was played (June 8-10) at Burapha Golf Course in Pattaya, Thailand. Surendan carded rounds of 72-78-74=224 to take the win.
The Mercedes Benz Junior Tour schedule features competitors from the region including, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar and Taiwan.
