Multiple Racers Receive All-Star Honors

Six members of the 2017 Murray State baseball team have been named to their respective summer league All-Star Teams. Aaron Bence, Austin Dubsky, Chad Gendron and Davis Sims all received the honor, as did incoming freshmen Justin and Ryan Perkins.
Bence was named an all-star in the Prospect Baseball League after he hit .288 and scored 22 runs while driving in 12 for the Lafayette Aviators. Bence also leads the league with 28 stolen bases so far this season, 10 more than the second-highest output in the league.
Dubsky, who plays for the St. Cloud Rox in the Northwoods League, is 4-0 on the season and is third in the league with a 1.13 ERA over 40 innings of work in six starts. Dubsky has struck-out 25 batters on the season and has allowed just two extra-base hits.
Gendron was named an all-star with the Trojans of the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League. Gendron has appeared in a team-high seven games this season, mostly out of the bullpen and has logged 23.2 innings of work. Gendron also has the Trojans' lone save so far.
Sims has been on a tear for the Chiefs of the Ohio Valley League as he's hitting .333 and is second in the league with 12 home runs. Sims' 42 hits are tied for the most in the OVL while his 35 runs scored are a league-best mark and his 34 RBIs are tied for the second-most.
The Perkins brothers both play for the Bandits of the St. Louis Metro League. Ryan Perkins leads the league with a blistering .431 batting average to go along with 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored. Justin meanwhile, is hitting .380 and has also scored 19 times while driving in eight. Justin has also made a pair of pitching appearances for the Bandits.
