The Murray State Racers kicked off the 2016 season with an exhibition game at University of Evansville on Thursday night with a 2-1 loss at Arad McCutchan Stadium.

Murray State got on the first board first with 20:28 remaining in the first half. Freshman Madalyn Germann scored off an assist by Taylor Richerson. The play was was started by Harriet Withers who drove the ball deep into the right corner before she hit Richerson with a crossing pass.

The Racers held the lead until 15:41 left in the half when Evansville's Colleen Dierkes scored on a shot from 25 yards out straightway.

The game winner for the Aces came with with 15:22 remaining on an unassisted goal by Sara Osinski.

Murray State created multiple shots on goal in the final minutes but couldn't draw even.

Alex Steigerwald played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped seven of the nine shots she faced.

The Racers start their 2016 season at Louisiana Tech Friday (Aug. 19) in Ruston, LA. Murray State will return to Cutchin field on August 26^th to face the Mocs of Chattanooga in the first home game of the season.
