Knight Paces Racers At Gateway National

Murray State freshman Austin Knight placed 15th to lead the Racers' men's golf team at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Illinois.
Knight posted scores of 71-73-76=220 to place 15th in the field of 87 players, while Matthew Zakutney had a 24th place showing with scores of 73-72-78=223.
Gabe Wheeler placed 39th with rounds of 76-77-77=224 and Matthew Winder was 40th with rounds of 76-77-74=227. Avery Edwards placed 54th with scores of 81-71-80=232.
After posting the best score for the second round in the field of 15 teams, the Racers were in third place heading into Tuesday's final round. MSU fell to sixth and ended the two-day event with scores of 295-288-305=888.
Missouri State won the title at 875, with host SIUE in second place at 877. Bradley (880) placed third and Northern Iowa (883) was fourth and UT Martin fifth (887). Omaha shared sixth with the Racers at 888. South Dakota (890), New Orleans (893), Nicholls State (897), North Dakota (910), Western Illinois (912), Tennessee Tech (914), Eastern Illinois (934) and Mott College (939) made up the rest of the field.
Lance Davis played the event for the Racers as an individual and was 87th place with scores of 80-86-85=251.
The event was staged at Gateway National Golf Club where the course played to 7,092 yards and par-71.
Missouri State's Jack Knoesel was medalist with scores of 66-68-72=206.
The Racers are back in action (Oct. 3-4) at the Skyhawk Classic is Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tennessee.
