Jaron Robinson went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs Tuesday afternoon at Johnny Reagan Field as he helped lead the Gold Team to a 7-6 victory over the Navy in game one of Murray State baseball's Fall World Series.
Robinson also added a double and scored a pair of runs in the win. Matthew Dudas and Ryan Perkins both went 2-for-3 with a run for the Gold on the day while Ramsey Scott went 2-of-2 with a pair of ribbies in a losing effort for the Navy.
A four-run bottom of the third for the Gold squad put it ahead 5-2 in the contest and it was a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The Navy made things interesting after falling behind 7-2, scoring a pair of runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.
Connor Holden picked up the win for the Gold, pitching three innings and striking out three batters. Caleb Hicks got the save as he closed the door in the ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Game two of the series is set for Thursday at 6 p.m., at Reagan Field. Peyton Hayes will get the start for the Navy Team while Tyler Horsley will get the ball for the Gold.
