Racer Women Picked As Favorite In OVC Golf Poll

The Murray State women's golf team was selected first in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll that was released by the league after a vote of the head coaches.
In a virtual split vote, the Racers received five first place votes and a total of 61 points, which put them in front of Eastern Kentucky with 60 points and four first place votes. Morehead State (47 points), Jacksonville State (44) and Tennessee Tech (34) rounded out the top five.

MSU had a fantastic fall season with a pair of victories and runner-up finishes. MSU won events at the Chris Banister Classic in Alabama and the MVC Preview in Missouri.

Reigning OVC Player of the Year Moa Folke leads the Racers with a scoring average of 73.8, which is third in the OVC. Additionally, the Racers have Linette Holmslykke and Lucila Puente ranked sixth and seventh in OVC scoring.

The Racers get the spring season going at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, hosted by the College of Charleston, (Feb. 26-28) in Kiawah Island Island, S.C., at the Oak Point and Osprey Point courses.

MSU will look toward the OVC Championship (April 17-19) at Hampton Cove on the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
