Racers Battle Winter's Return At Grover Page Classic

The Murray State Racers battle cold and wet conditions, but still managed a spot in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Grover Page Classic at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
The Racers carded scores of 302-292=594 and trailed third place Tennessee Tech (592) by two shots. UT Martin was the leader at 574 and Samford was in second place with a 585.
Matthew Winder led the Racers with a spot in seventh place in the field of 48Â competitors after scores of 74-71=145. Matthew Zakutney and Austin Knight shared 24th place for MSU after they carded identical scores of 78-73=151. Avery Edwards also had a share of 24th place with scores of 76-75=151. Gabe Wheeler was in 28th place with rounds of 76-75=151.
Lance Davis is playing the event for Murray State as an individual. He was in 45th place with scores of 79-84=163.
The course at Jackson CC is playing to a Par-72 and a length of 6,776 yards.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start.

The Racers improved their afternoon score by 10 strokes from what they posted after the morning round that featured an hour weather delay.
Winder leads the field after 36 holes with 12 total birdies. He's also atop the field with a total score of 8-under-par on the Jackson Country Club par-5 holes. His scoring average was 4.0.
Zakutney leads the field in par three scoring at 2.88. He was 1-under-par for the day.
Knight is tied for 14th in total pars with 21.
The field of 11 teams had a challenging day with weather conditions. The temperature stayed in the low 40's most of the day and there was a rain/lightning delay of about an hour starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday's forecast offers little chance of improvement.
