Racers hang Tough - Defeat JSU

The Murray State Racers prevailed over the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State on Friday at Bennie Purcell Courts. This is the first home match of conference play for the Racers.

MSU won the doubles matches in two and did not finish the last match. Claire Chang and Alina Schibol defeated Genevie Ulanday and Diana Monsalve 6-3. Sara Bjork and Jeanne Masson took home the doubles point with their 6-2 win over the duo of Claudia Marsala and Svea Mai.

Murray State only dropped two single sets on the day. Amina Hadzic served for match point when she led Diana Monsalve 9-8, but ended up failing 7-6, 5-7, 9-11. Sara Loncarevic dropped her singles point 3-6, 4-6 to Alba Conesero.

Anja Loncarevic defeated Genevie Ulanday 6-3, 6-4. Claire Chang took down Claudia Marsala 6-0, 6-2. Alina Schibol was victorious over JSU's Buchner with scores of 6-3, 7-5. Jeanne Masson won her match over Svea Mai 6-3, 6-2.

The Racers improve to 5-7 on the season, 2-1 in OVC.

The Racers return home next Friday (March 31) to face the Skyhawks of UT Martin. They will turn around and take on Southeast Missouri State on Saturday (April 1).
