Former Racer Newcomb Wins Event On PGA Tour Latinoamérica In Honduras

Former Murray State golfer Patrick Newcomb scored his first win on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica circuit Sunday when he won the Honduras Open at the Indura Beach and Golf Resort Club. Newcomb, who last played for the Racers in 2013, survived a playoff after a final round 69 to get his second win as a professional.
Newcomb's win was his first in 15 starts on PGA Tour Latinoamérica and he's happy to rake in the first place prize $31,500.
The Benton, Kentucky native had a final score line of 68-73-61-69 for a 17-under-par total of 271.
Newcomb defeated fellow American Hank Lebioda and Florida State alum in the playoff.
Newcomb's victory was fueled by a career-low 11-under-par 61 Saturday in the third round. The third round of professional golf is often referred to as 'moving day'. Newcomb certainly did that as he went from 42nd place all the way to first place and a two-shot lead. His round consisted of nine birdies & an eagle at the 18th hole.
This is Newcomb's best finish this spring in five starts on PGA Tour Latinoamérica and his rank of 80th on the money list is sure to improve.
Indura Beach and Golf Resort course played to a length of 7,250 yards and to par-72.
PGA TOUR Latinoamérica consists of 19 events played in fourteen countries across Latin America.
