First Pitch
The Racers open conference play this weekend as they travel to face SIU Edwardsville in a threegame series beginning with a doubleheader Friday. MSU is coming off a thrilling 13-12 comeback victory over Southern Illinois Wednesday. The Racers trailed by as many as nine runs in the contest twice.

Inside the Series
The Racers are 3-6 all-time at Lee Field and were swept by the Cougars the last time they were in Edwardsville back in 2015. SIUE leads the all-time series, which began in 2009, 15-9. SIUE is coming off its lone home loss of the 2017 on Wednesday when it lost to Saint Louis, 12-3.

Schedule Change
Due to forecasted snow and cold temperatures in Edwardsville on Saturday, the series will shift to a doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon. Game three is still scheduled for the original 1 p.m., first pitch on Sunday.

Scouting SIU Edwardsville
Alec Skender leads the Cougars with a .360 batting average, three steals and is tied for the team lead with nine runs scored. Keaton Wright leads SIUE with 12 RBIs and is the only Cougar with double-digit RBI. Wright also leads the team with two home runs. Jared McCunn is second on the team (min. 20 at-bats) in batting with a .302 average. Dustin Woodcock leads the Cougars with five extra-base hits. As a team, the Cougars are hitting .241 and is averaging nearly 4.8 runs per game.

SIUE's pitching staff has been stellar so far in 2017. Nelson Martz and Danny Ehrsam lead the Cougars with two wins each while Martz has pitched a team-high 19 innings and leads SIUE with 19 strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Mason Mcreaken has made six appearances and has not allowed an earned run. Mcreaken has pitched 12 innings and leads the team with four saves. First-year head coach Sean Lyons leads the Cougars.

Don't Call It a Comeback
MSU rallied from nine runs down on two separate occasions Wednesday against Southern Illinois. In the last five seasons, the Racers have come back from nine-run deficits to tie the game, but eventually lost (2013 and 2014) twice.

Swinging a Hot Bat
In his last 10 games, Adam Bauer leads the Racers in most offensive categories as he has recorded a .571 batting average, two home runs, including six extra-base hits and 10 RBIs, while also scoring a team-high nine runs over that span.
