Racers Take The Lead At OVC Championship - Folke Cards 66

The Murray State Racers carry a three-shot lead into Wednesday's final round of the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf championship in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. After scoring a tournament record 286 in round one at the Highlands Course at Hampton Cove, MSU came back with the third-best score in event history with a 290.

Through 36 holes, the Racers are the frontrunner with scores of 286-290=576, but are being chased by two-time defending champion Eastern Kentucky who has scores of 286-293=579. The Racers tee off Wednesday morning looking for the 10th OVC title under the only coach they've ever had, Velvet Milkman.

A day after Linette Holmslykke shot 68 to tie the OVC Tournament record, Moa Folke posted a 6-under-par 66 in Tuesday's second round. Her record round included an eagle at Hampton Cove's par-4 12th hole. Her five birdies and an eagle more than offset the lone bogey she had. Folke is a shot behind leader, EKU's Elsa Moberly who had scores of 68-70=138.

MSU's Linette Holymslykke is in fourth place after scores of 68-75=143, while Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria was in fifth place with scores of 71-73=144. All of MSU's starting five resided in the top-17 after round two, including Raeysha Surendran in 14th place with scores of 74-77=151 and Anna Moore in 17th place after scores of 76-76=152.

After the Racers and EKU, Jacksonville State was in third place at 597. Austin Peay had fourth place at 613 and Belmont was in fifth place at 617. The rest of the field included Morehead State (618), Tennessee Tech (618), Eastern Illinois (666) and Tennessee State (677).

The Racers will be paired with EKU and JSU in the final round as they were today. Anna Moore will hit the first shot of the day for the Racers at 9:40 a.m.

Folke's 66 bested her previous low score at Murray State by a shot. She shot a 67 at the Spring Citrus Challenge in Sorrento, Fla., on March 19.
