Austin Knight Named To OVC All-Newcomer Team

Murray State's Austin Knight was honored as a selection to the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Newcomer Team. The annual OVC awards were handed out after the first round of the OVC Tournament in Muscle Shoals, Alabama at The Shoals Golf Club.

A freshman from, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Knight established himself as the best player on the Racers' squad. Entering the OVC Tournament, he was ranked 17th in the league with a 74.4 scoring average. Knight had two top-5 finishes in his first MSU season including a third place showing (March 26) in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and fourth place at Paris Landing last October. His low round of the season was a 70 in the final round of the MSU Invitational (Sept. 13). Knight leads the team with 11 rounds of par or better in the 2016-17 season.

Knight follows teammate Gabe Wheeler who was named All-Newcomer in 2016. Knight is the ninth Racer to be named to the OVC All-Newcomer Team since the first season it was awarded in 2006.
