Zakutney Named OVC Golfer Of The Week

The Ohio Valley Conference named Murray State's Matthew Zakutney as OVC Golfer of the week as announced by the league office in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Zakutney, a senior from Paducah, Kentucky, is MSU's first OVC Golfer of the Week winner for the 2016-17 season.

He led the Racers with a runner-up finish at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate at the RidgePoint Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His second round 4-under-par 68 was his career-low score at MSU and it came in ridiculously windy conditions on Monday afternoon. He finished with scores of 73-68-75=216 for an even par total, which was three shots off the winner.

Zakutney's performance led the Racers to a sixth place finish.

The Racers play (April 10-11) at the Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee State at Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville, Tennessee. The OVC Championship happens at The Shoals Golf Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama (April 24-26).
