Racers Net Program-High Three All-Region Honors

The Murray State softball team placed a program-record three players on the 2017 National Fastpitch Association All-Mideast region team, the coaches' organization announced Thursday. Jessica Twaddle and Brenna Finck were named to the first team, while Mason Robinson was named to the second team. The two first-team picks matches a program-high from 2011.
Twaddle, a two-time OVC Player of the Year, led Murray State with a .390 average at first base. The Franklin, Tennessee native also turned in team highs of 13 doubles, 14 home runs, 25 walks and 46 RBIs. She ended her career as the program's all-time leader in batting average at .374, hits at 234 and RBIs at 134. This is the second NFCA honor for Twaddle, having been named to the third-team in 2015.
Finck led Murray State with a program-record 73 hits on the year, while her. 380 batting average was second on the team. Finck also hit a program single-season high of six triples and now leads MSU in career triples with eight. In addition, the Maroa, Illinois native scored a team-high 50 runs this season, in addition to swiping 10 bases, drawing 17 walks and driving in an additional 20 runs.
Robinson had one of the best seasons in program history by a Racer hurler, as she won a program-record 23 games and had the second lowest single-season ERA in program history at 2.20. Late last month, the Lewis Center, Ohio native tossed the first perfect game in Murray State history, then two games later did it again. She is also the program's all-time leader in wins with 68, shutouts with 18, including seven this season and ERA at 2.43.
All three Racers will be now be eligible to be named to one of three NFCA All-American teams that will be announced on May 31.
