Having already clinched a spot in next week's OVC tournament, the Murray State softball team will enter Saturday's regular-season ending doubleheader at Austin Peay looking to better its seeding. The Racers can finish no lower than their current fifth seed, but can finish as high as third with the help of tiebreakers.
Last Time Out
Murray State's six game winning streak came to an end Wednesday, as Belmont picked up a 6-2 win Murray. The Bruins fell in an early 2-0 hole in the game, but then scored six unanswered runs to top the Racers, 6-2. Jocelynn Rodgers
was 2-for-3 at the dish in the game, to go along with a RBI, while Taylor Odom
had a double and a RBI and Jessica Twaddle

The Austin Peay Series
Murray State leads the all-time series with Austin Peay by a hefty 17-5 margin. Despite the large gap, the Govs put an end to MSU's 12-game win streak in the series last year in Clarksville. The Racers also hold a 9-3 advantage over Peay in Murray and have not lost to the Govs at home since 2012, in including a 3-1 non-conference win at Racer Field earlier this season.
Scouting The Governors
The Govs are currently 16-30 overall and 4-14 in OVC play and have been eliminated from the postseason picture. As a team, Austin Peay is currently batting .227, while opponents hit .307 against them and score an average of 4.53 earned runs per game. Autumn Hanners leads the Govs pitching staff at 6-13 on the year with a 3.28 ERA, 56 strikeouts, 51 walks and a .289 opponent's batting average. Offensively, Danielle Liermann leads the way for APSU with a .317 batting average and a team-high 34 RBIS. Carly Mattson follows Hanners at .296 and leads the Govs in home runs with 10.
