Murray State's Anna Moore
brought home the Kentucky Amateur Championship in the week-long event where she won four matches. The 91st staging of the top women's championship in the state was played at Cherry
Blossom Golf and Country Club in Georgetown, Ky.
Moore started her run to the title with match-play wins over Grace Lawler (5 & 3), Kathryn Lawler (3 & 2) and Molly Bebelaar (2 & 1). The championship match came down to a pair of players from the Ohio Valley Conference. Anna Moore
of Murray State faced off against Elsa Moberly of Eastern Kentucky University. Moore prevailed 4 & 3 in a match that she led from start to finish. She was 3-under-par when the match was decided on the 15th
Moore, who will be a senior with the Racers in the fall, is the second Racer player to win the Kentucky State Am. MSU Hall of Famer Jessica (Widman) Grace won the State Am in 2007. Grace, the head girls golf coach at Henderson County High School, won the Mid-Am portion of the event with three match-play wins.
The 2017 event will be played at Elizabethtown Country Club in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
