Five Racers Selected As Summer League All-Stars

Five Murray State baseball players have been selected as All-Stars for their respective summer leagues this season. Blake Clynes and Trevor McMurray both made the Ohio Valley League's All-Star Game, while Caleb Hicks was named an Alaskan League All-Star and Davis Sims was selected in the Coastal Plains League. Incoming transfer Kyle Stevens was also named an All-Star in the St. Louis Metro League.
Sims, who is hitting .268 with seven home runs and 23 RBIs for the Martinsville Mustangs, is also slugging .518 on the season and has scored 20 runs. His seven homers are tied for fourth-most in the league. Sims was also selected to the CPL Select Team, which played the USA Collegiate National Team in late June.
Hicks will participate in the Home Run Derby as well in the Alaskan League. Hicks has three home runs and a team-high 10 RBIs this season for the Peninsula Oilers. Hicks has also done a great job on the mound this summer, posting an ERA of 2.45 with three saves in nine appearances out of the bull pen.
Stevens, who is a transfer from St. Louis CC, is currently playing for the Trojans in the St. Louis Metro League. Stevens is hitting .378 with two home runs and 12 RBIs this summer and has also scored 15 runs and tallied 11 doubles on the year.
Clynes and McMurray are both playing for the Paducah Chiefs in the OVL this summer. Clynes has posted a 2-1 record with an ERA of 2.81 this season and has 46 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work. McMurray meanwhile, also has two victories on the mound and an ERA of 2.87 while striking out 32 batters in 31.1 innings pitched.
