Baseball Recruiting Class Receiving National Praise

The Murray State baseball team's 2016-17 recruiting class is garnering some national praise as Baseball America dubbed the Racers as one of 12 schools with "under-the-radar" recruiting classes.
These schools had "notable recruiting classes beyond the top echelon of the top-25", said Teddy Cahill of Baseball America in his recent article.
"These schools brought in strong classes relative to a normal class in their conference. The Racers have shown steady improvement in coach Kevin Moulder's three years at the program's helm and this year's recruiting class should help them build on that momentum," continued Cahill.
In addition to the recruiting class, a pair of MSU student-athletes received high praise from Patrick Ebert of Perfect Game as Jaron Robinson and Chance Carner were named the second- and fifth-best prospects, respectively in the Jayhawk League, the collegiate league the two played in this summer.
Robinson hit .372 and collected 29 RBIs this summer on his way to earning MVP honors for the Liberal Bee Jays and leading them to the league championship. According to Ebert, "for as good as he was at the plate, his infield defense at shortstop drew the most attention."
Carner, who also played for the Bee Jays, posted a 1.52 ERA in 13 appearances out of the bullpen, striking-out 33 batters and allowing just 13 hits over 17.2 innings of work.
"Carner could be a name to watch if he carries his summer success over to his junior year at Murray State," said Ebert.
Carner, Robinson and the rest of the Racers have begun fall practice and will be playing their Fall World Series coming in October.
