Racer Golf Signs Three For 2018

Murray State head men's golf coach Eddie Hunt announced his recruiting class of 2018 for the Racers.

The trio of signees will be freshman in the fall of 2018. They include Dalton Bagwell, out of McCracken County High School in Paducah, Kentucky and a pair of Christian County High School athletes, John Buchanan and Carson Holmes of Hopkinsville, Ky.

"I am very pleased to have Dalton, John and Carson make the decision to be part of our program at Murray State," said Coach Hunt. "I feel they'll have the chance to be very successful in their college careers and make an impact in our competition in the Ohio Valley Conference. They have a bright future as Racers."

The signing of Buchanan and Holmes marks the first time in Coach Hunt's 16 years at MSU that he has signed high school teammates as Buchanan and Holmes join the Racers.

Dalton Bagwell – McMcracken County HS
Dalton Bagwell comes to Murray State after placing top-10 in every event he played as a senior in 2017 at McCracken County High School. He earned KHSAA All-State honors and had a top-10 finish in every event he appeared. He scored wins at the Drake Creek College Showcase, Ballard Memorial Invitational and the Owensboro Catholic Invitational. He had an 11th place showing at the Kentucky State Tournament with scores of 74-73=147.

John Buchanan – Christian County HS
John Buchanan joins Murray State after a senior year in 2017 where he scored seven combined wins at Christian County High School and on summer circuit levels. He won the Paducah Tilghman invitational with a score of 69 and later went on to place second at the KHSAA Region-2 championship with another score of 69. He placed 35th at the KHSAA State Tournament with scores of 77-76=153. He was named the Athlete of the Year by the Kentucky New Era in 2017.

Carson Holmes – Christian County HS
As a senior in 2017, Carson Holmes won summer events at Rolling Hills (75) and at the Irvin Cobb Junior title at Paxton Park with scores of 74-73=147. Playing for Christian County High School, he was named the Athlete of the Year by the Kentucky New Era in 2016 after he won the KHSAA Region-2 title.
