Jones Named Top 100 Freshman by TopDrawerSoccer.com

After an impressive freshman campaign for the Murray State women's soccer team, Abby Jones was recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com as a member of their 2018 Women's Division I Soccer Postseason Top 100 Freshman List as announced by the website on December 13.Â
The Powell, Ohio, native earned the 65th ranking on Top Drawer's list after posting eight goals, 10 assists, and 26-points in 19 starts for the Racers this season. Â Her efforts this season helped the Racers to a 13-5-1 record, as MSU went on to win the OVC Championship and earned an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.Â
Jones' accomplishments were also honored by the Ohio Valley Conference in November, as she was named the 2018 OVC Freshman of the Year while also earning spots on the All-OVC Newcomer Team and All-OVC Second Team, respectively, after leading the league in assists and posting a second-place finish in points.Â
The freshman forward's 10 assists season broke Murray State's 18-year-old assist record set in 2000 by Lauren McAdams, as McAdams boasted nine assists in MSU's inaugural season. Additionally, Jones holds the top spot for most points by a freshman with 26 after passing Jackie Thomas' former mark of 25 also set in 2000.Â
