Racers Move To Second At Kiawah Island

The Murray State women's golf squad improved on day two of the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Kiawah Island Resort in Kiawah Island, South Carolina and has a spot in second place heading into Tuesday's final round.

MSU carded a 288 in round two, after they posted a 290 in day one and their total of 578 was good for second place in the field of 43 teams. MSU was 11 shots off the lead of host College of Charleston at 567. The rest of the top-5 included Jacksonville (579), Western Kentucky and Savannah (584) and Fellow Ohio Valley Conference team Jacksonville State (585).

MSU's Anna Moore had scores of 70-71=141 and was in seventh place, while Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria was in 11th place after scores of 70-73=143. Moa Folke and Raeysha Surendran shared 38th place in the field of 217 players. Folke had scores of 74-73=147 while Surendran had scored of 76-71=147. Linette Holmslykke had a spot in 116rd place scores of 78-76=154.

Jane Watts is playing the event as an individual for the Racers and was in 144th place with scores of 80-77=157.

The Racers will be part of the top-22 teams that qualified for the championship flight on Tuesday at the Osprey Point course.

Tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the 2018 edition of the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic has expanded to 43 teams in this year's field and will be played for the fourth time in its history at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C.
