Folke Paces Racers After Round 1 Of Spring Citrus Challenge

The Murray State women's golf squad had a spot in third place and led three fellow Ohio Valley Conference teams after the first day of play at the Spring Citrus Challenge at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.

The Racers' first round 306 was just off the pace of second place Keiser (302) and leader Florida Gulf Coast (297).

Murray State's Moa Folke led the way for the Racers with a spot in ninth place after a 75, while three MSU players all carded 5-over-par 77's. Lucila Puente Rodrigue de Austria, Linette Holmslykke and Raeshya Surendran shared 14th place in the field of 79 competitors. MSU's Anna Moore was in 25th place after a 79. MSU's Nadine Innes is in the field as an individual and was in 48th place after an 82.

After FGCU, Keiser and the Racers, Morehead State and High Point were tied for fourth place each at 311. Three other OVC teams are in the event including Austin Peay (312) in sixth place and Eastern Illinois (334) in 13th place.

The only two players under par in the first round were co-leaders Natalia Nassar of FGCU and Keiser's Michaela Fabiankova, each with a 1-under-par 71.Â

Round two finds teams teeing starting from the 1st and 10th tees at 7:30 a.m. CT. Murray State's first shot will be taken by Anna Moore at 9:18 a.m. CT.

The Red Tail course is playing 5,929 yards and to a par of 72.
