Wehby Hits Grand Slam in Finale Loss to Tech

Tennessee Tech defeated Murray State 23-7 Sunday afternoon at Reagan Field to finish the sweep of the Racers. MSU scored all seven of its run in the ninth inning as Gavin Wehby delivered the big blow for the Racers as he hit a grand slam with two outs in the inning.
Ramsey Scott got an RBI double down the line to begin the scoring in the inning for the Racers (17-18, 5-10 OVC). Later in the inning, Jake Slunder drew a bases loaded walk to score Brandon Gutzler from third before Wehby's third home run of the season. Davis Sims rounded-out the scoring on the day as he hit his 19th double of the season down the left field line to score Grant Wood.
Gutzler, Scott, Wehby and Wood all had two-hit days in the loss to the 25th-ranked Golden Eagles. Wood went 2-for-4 at the plate while the other three were all 2-of-5. Sims' double was his lone hit of the day. TTU (29-5, 17-1 OVC) out-hit the Racers 18-9 on the day.
Luke Brown got the start and took the loss after pitching 1.1 innings. Tyler Anderson, Blake Clynes, Braydon Cook, Mike Farnell and Tyler Horsley all appeared in relief on the day.
MSU returns to action with four road contests next week, beginning Wednesday at Southern Illinois in a 5 p.m., contest.
