Lodge Announces 2018 Schedule

An in-state foe and a pair of SEC opponents highlight the upcoming 2018 Murray State women's soccer schedule announce by head coach Matt Lodge on Wednesday.
"I am very pleased with our 2018 fall schedule. This schedule will prepare us for OVC play where we will be in the hunt for our fourth regular season championship in as many years," said Lodge. "There are no easy games, and we want to be challenged and pushed every time we step on the pitch. It starts with a great scrimmage when we host a very good Samford team. We also play two teams who were in the NCAA tournament in 2017, in IUPUI and Ole Miss. Georgia will be athletic and a tough road game, NKU is always tough to break down and WKU, FAU and Chattanooga are all well coached teams. It's fantastic that Racer Nation will get 10 opportunities to come out to Cutchin Field."
Racers fans will be seeing a new face lead the three-time OVC regular season champs, with Matt Lodge taking over as head coach after serving as the head assistant coach for the last four years under Jeremy Groves, who left for Mississippi State.
Fans can expect to see a lot of the Racers at Cutchin Field in the month of August, starting off with an exhibition match August 10 against a strong Stamford team who lost in the SoConn conference finals.
The regular season kicks off August 17 with three straight home matches, with Western Kentucky, Northern Kentucky and IUPUI facing the Racers. The focus then shifts to a big road match against Ole Miss and a visit from Florida Atlantic to wrap up the month.
Murray State hits the road for most of September, with non-conference matches against Chattanooga and Georgia along with conference foes Southeast Missouri, Eastern Illinois and SIUE. Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State make their way to Cutchin field to end the month.
The Racers head back to the road to begin October with trips to UT Martin and Austin Peay for the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border before settling in for three straight home matches against Belmont, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky to conclude the regular season.
