Van Duyse, Kesel Honored By CoSIDA

Juniors Amber Van Duyse and Leah Kesel were honored for both their work on the field and in the classroom Thursday by being named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team Selected by CoSIDA. Van Duyse is an Occupational Health & Safety major with a 3.93 GPA, while Kesel has a 3.90 GPA in elementary education.
Kesel played a variety of roles for the Racers this season including spending time in the outfield and serving as a pinch runner and pinch hitter. The native of Loose Creek, Missouri finished the season with eight runs, six walks and a stolen base.
Van Duyse led MSU on the season in saves with two and also picked up two combined shutouts. In addition, the De Pere, Wisconsin native notched the second-most strikeouts by Racers this season at 26 and appeared in 23 games with nine starts.
Kesel and Van Duyse are now the seventh and eighth players in program history to earn the ward representing 12 total honors. Both players are now eligible to be voted on to one of three Google Cloud Academic All-American teams, which will be announced June 4.
