Murray State head women's soccer coach Matt Lodge has named Ryan Jones as his new assistant coach.
A former professional footballer, Jones comes to Murray State after working for Perfect Touch Soccer, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he served as the Director of Business Development and Head Trainer. Prior to that, Jones spent time at the Division III level working with both Muhlenberg Arcadia's men's programs, as well as coaching players between 7 and 18 within various club organizations.
Before coaching, Jones was recruited to play for Ecchleshill United, a non-league side, in England through the International Academic and Soccer Academy program, while earning his Master's in public relations and strategic communications from Leeds Beckett University. During his last two months in England, he was invited to train with the first team for EFL League 1 side Bradford City, before signing a professional contract with Palloseura Kemi Kings, which played in the first division of Finnish football.
Jones graduated in 2015 with a degree in digital media from Marywood, where he was racked up the accolades with the Pacers. During his collegiate career, Jones was a NSCAA college division third-team Scholar All-American, a 2-time NSCAA college division men's Scholar All-East Region second team honoree, a 3-time NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection and an ECAC South Defensive Player of the Year.
After Marywood, Ryan had the unique opportunity of being selected to represent the United States at the 19th Maccabiah Games in 2013 in Israel, eventually helping his squad to the first ever men's soccer gold medal in any age group at the games. Jones returned to Team USA in 2017 and helped the USA to back-to-back Maccabiah Games gold medals. Jones currently holds a USSF "D" license and NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 diploma.
